In 2017, we are working to raise $100,000. We will hire more case managers and expand our capacity to help those in our homeless community. You can help us reach this goal. You can help us empower our homeless clients towards a better life.
We also seek to grow our network of Friends of First Stop. These are volunteers and supporters who provide our facility with the tools we need to support our clients.
First Stop's continuing success depends on gifts of time and in-kind donations from volunteers. Our volunteer supporters come from faith-based organizations, non-denominational groups and unaffiliated groups of interested citizens.
Volunteer groups provide clients with a hot meal almost daily at our Stokes Street facility. Individuals and organizations donate serviceable furniture and household items for clients' housing, as well as personal items for use by clients who still reside in local "camps".
We have closed our clothing closet and we no longer accept donations of clothing. We direct donations to other area groups that run stores to support their mission to aid the homeless. In turn they provide us with vouchers to pass on to our clients.
Please take your clothing donations to Downtown Rescue Mission, The Salvation Army, and Rose of Sharon. These organizations work with us to provide vouchers for our clients.
If you wish to provide hygiene items for our encounter groups to distribute, please click the link below. The needs of camp-dwellers are seasonal. Visit the link to see the most current list of needs.
